The PSC Enterprise Forum
Passion+Prosperity+Power
The quarterly PSC Enterprise Forum at the House of Lords brings together successful female entrepreneurs from a range of sectors, along with politicians, financiers, academics and global thought leaders.
Led entirely by eminent businesswomen and independent of Government, this interactive Forum remains free thinking and creative about the best ways of supporting, encouraging and promoting entrepreneurship. Topics so far include social entrepreneurship, green business and women in the IT and construction industries.
The next Forum is on March 24th. For more info or to join the PSC Enterprise Forum, please email Sheila Williamson: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
interprise:09 Enterprise Summit & Annual Debate- House of Lords
Inspirational, innovative, influential....our third and best-ever annual event during Global Enterprise Week! Hosted by Helene Martin Gee, in partnership with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Entrepreneurship (APPGE).
After a rousing welcome from Lord Erroll, we heard from Professor Eve Mitleton-Kelly of the LSE who shared brilliant ideas on complexity and the power of knowledge and connections. Then Entrepreneur of the Year Sara Murray gave us some amazing insights into her business success and the passion that drives her.
We then dispersed into afternoon tea discussions, hosted by women leaders including - Kaz Brine at BAFTA, Julie Carlyle at Ernst & Young, Jo Gideon at Quirinale, Elspeth Graham at Cinnamon Club, Sue Lawton at House of Lords, Dr Shaheena Janjuha-Jivraj at Parliament Street, and Liz St Clair in the Thatcher Room, House of Commons.
Women leaders from all sectors were joined by school and university students and emerging entrepreneurs, who also contributed their insights and energy. These phenomenal women shared some extraordinary ideas on driving forward enterprise. Students from Lancaster University took notes of the proceedings, and joined in the discussions with some great ideas themselves, along with students from Grieg City Academy. Back at the House of Lords, the hosts skillfully presented the best ideas to be put forward to the APPGE.
The Rt Hon Theresa May MP gave ethusiastic encouragement to the packed room, here was a politician who clearly understood the importance of enterprise and what is really needed to encourage entrepreneurship. Sarah Anderson CBE then captivated us with her knowledge and insights into building and selling a successful business, about running a company with passion, and investing in people and ideas.
A prestigeous panel, chaired by Maggie Semple OBE with Jean Irvine OBE, Sylvia Tidy-Harris, Sarah Anderson and Helene Martin Gee, explored the ideas further and took questions from the audience of leading business people.
The event was full of energy and delegates were further delighted to hear from Tessa Sanderson CBE about her 2012 academy and the links between business and sport.
Guests then enjoyed some well deserved fizz at the high level networking reception with fabulous artisan British foods, chosen by Lyndon Gee of Slow Food. The buzz was amazing as everyone agreed this was a day to remember!
With huge thanks to: our extraordinary speakers, panellists, tea hosts and delegates; the brilliantly talented PSC team including Joelle Abessolo, Virginia Stephens, Sheila Williamson, Ling Tyler-Bennett, Sophie Stevens, Edouard Arnaud and Benjamin Battelier. Thanks also to Merlin Erroll, Vanda Green, Una McBride, and Lizzie Whatley; our wonderful sponsors benugo, and the stunning tea venues, without whom the event would not be possible.
